Year 2 Remote Learning

During Lockdown, Mrs Whitfield will meet with your child every day at 9am and 2:30pm (when there is not Collective Worship) for Class Zoom lessons.

Mrs Whitfield has prepared a bank of resources below for you to access at home during Lockdown. If your child is unable to come to school due to self-isolating, Mrs Whitfield will e-mail your child's work to you directly. Much of this should be completed by your child with some support.

For feedback from your child's teacher, please share your child's learning by emailing it to:  s.whitfield@suttonlower.co.uk

To help structure their learning, below is a suggested timetable.

Christians believe God created the world; the land, the seas, the sky and all who live in it – animals, birds, sea creatures, people, plants and all wild life.

Can you think of other creators such as artists, carpenters, musicians, builders, writers – what skills must they have and use to create things?

You are a creator – you have made many things such as stories, games, models, paintings.

BBC Ten Pieces at Home - https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/ten-pieces/ten-pieces-at-home/zjy3382

Music is a part of everyone’s lives - but teaching the joy of music doesn’t always have to be in the classroom. Whether it’s making instruments, writing song lyrics, or tapping out a beat, here are 10 different Bring the Noise activities that work wonderfully at home or streamed over the internet.

BBC Ten Pieces Connecting the Dots - https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/ten-pieces/connecting-the-dots/zntsf4j

You will find weekly activities for primary schools, home educators and parents to share with their students. Each includes a Ten Pieces film to watch and enjoy and a linked creative activity that can be completed by children at home without any special materials or preparation. A perfect, simple and easy way to keep listening, enjoying and creating music at this time.

Like most people, the musicians from the BBC Orchestras and Choirs are currently staying at home. Although the musicians can’t play together in person - they can share their music and skills online.

During the Summer Term, Ten Pieces will be connecting UK schools with BBC musicians for online workshops – offering children the chance to meet a musician, hear them perform and ask them questions.

The unique collection of 100 classical recordings, complete with learning activities and information on each piece, is being made available for free to all families at home during the coronavirus crisis.

Sing Up at Homehttps://www.singup.org/singupathome

To help with the rhythms and routines of your new daily life, we are releasing seven songs, one for each day, all with challenges and activities related to each song. Every week for the next few weeks we will continue to add songs and resources.

All around us, the world is changing and we're all adapting to new challenges. With so many children and young people now staying at home, we want to ensure that they are still able to experience the benefits of singing.

I would recommend looking at Song of the Week

Music in the Round

Really thinking about the value of making music every day at the moment, here’s a fantastic collection of videos for Early Years children and their families. There are songs for all parts of the day – from waking up and dressing to tidying and mealtimes – and lots of advice about how to create your own songs and musical activities. Again, you don’t need to be an expert – it’s about having fun and sharing good things with your children.

Phonics

The link below is a resource we use in school to help the children learn their phonics. Year Ones are working at Phase 5, Year 2s are working at Phase 6. There are lots of games the children are familiar with and love to play.
