Stewardship Day, 11th October 2019

Today was the first of our "Stewardship Days". Our aim is to provide learning opportunities for our pupils to consider their role in helping and caring for our planet.

Mrs Kerridge told us that our recent donations went to Tanzania. Many people in Tanzania do not have electricity in their homes. The Diocese of St Albans arranged for donations to be sent to Tanzania so that people there could have solar panels fitted to their wooden huts. The light from the sun will generate power and turn it into electricity.

This will help people, who make their own goods at home, work longer hours which will generate more income for food, children will be able to do their homework without using dangerous candles which will help with their education.

Our church raised £87 to send to Tanzania. The cost of a solar roof panel is £75, the excess money will be put towards a further panel for another home.

We practiced a fire drill at the church and Mrs Kerridge told us where we would all gather if we heard the words "fire fire" in church. The children were told that in November during an actual service, we will have another practice.
