June 2024 Curriculum in Church

As pupils being preparing for transition to the next year group this half term’s Curriculum in Church session, had a focus on facing and coping with Change. Reverend Alex, asked the children about changes that they had experienced or were going to experience soon. Some mentioned our school changing to Primary and others talked about changing year groups/classes.

Rev Alex shared the story about St Thomas when he moved to Kerala, India, to build a Church.

The children were encouraged reflect on the story and think about whether change was always positive or were them some negatives. We talked about the mixture of emotions that we experience when facing and going through change.

Rev Alex explained that during change it is helpful to remember our Identity and our Purpose. As pupils at this school, pupils were reminded that they have a Sutton School identify and their purpose is to ‘Shine as Lights in World’ by living the Values.
